Marx's Conflict Theory

Conflict theory originated in the work of Karl Marx, who focused on the causes and consequences of class conflict between the bourgeoisie (the owners of the means of production and the capitalists) and the proletariat (the working class and the poor). Focusing on the economic, social, and political implications of the rise of capitalism in Europe, Marx theorized that this system, premised on the existence of a powerful minority class (the bourgeoisie) and an oppressed majority class (the proletariat), created class conflict because the interests of the two were at odds, and resources were unjustly distributed among them.

Functionalism is a view in the theory of the mind that mental states are only by functional role. Emile Durkheim said in his book; Suicide: A Study in Sociology that “It is society which, fashioning us in its image, fills us with religions, political and moral beliefs that control our actions.” Feminist campaigns are generally considered to be a main force behind major historical societal changes for women's rights, particularly in the West, where they are near-universally credited with achieving women's suffrage, gender neutrality in English, reproductive rights for women (including access to contraceptives and abortion), and the right to enter into contracts and own property.

Functionalism interprets each part of society in terms of how it contributes to the stability of the whole society. Society is more than the sum of its parts; rather, each part of society is functional for the stability of the whole. Durkheim actually envisioned society as an organism, and just like within an organism, each component plays a necessary part, but none can function alone, and one experiences a crisis or fails, other parts must adapt to fill the void in some way.

How do these inequalities affect your life in Thai society and/ or the world?

For example, some passenger car do not accept Thai passengers, but foreign passengers. Because they fare more.

Have you ever been discriminated against? Explain.

Discriminated against to impose limitations on a particular person or group for prejudicial reasons. Or to single out a type of person or thing for special negative treatment or denial of equal treatment.

Have you ever seen an act of injustice or discrimination? Explain.

Social injustice can be described as a situation in which dominant population is made known of the inequity that leads for others due to their relative position in the structure of power. Social injustice is also the way unjust actions are done in the society. Social injustice occurs in a situation where the equals are treated unequally and the unequal is treated equally.

How did these experience make you feel?

In my opinion of discriminated against, I think everyone should be equal because it will make the society go much further. Start from the family, mother should have the same rights as father such a comment or a decision.

The way can contribute to changing the way society works.

For example, most women are not confident with their appearance, which in fact looks good to them. Because they were instilled into beauty, white skin, thin or slender. Sometimes destroys their health and their bodies.

The solution of it is to change their minds to look back on themselves that is look good in the way they are. By motivate women to love themselves instead of creating a beautiful shell, but to hurt themselves. Make a poster about the campaign and page online.
